It's not enough for Mercedes-Benz to hit a production record in 2011. They had to outdo themselves and do it again in 2012. Recent news that the automaker expects to produce over 1.34 million vehicles this year is very exciting, and has us on the edge of our seats waiting for what's up next for Mercedes-Benz. As Mercedes dealers, we love getting every bit of good news that we can, so another production record is definitely music to our ears. According to Daimler, "The positive development of sales led to very good capacity utilization at the plants in 2012 as well."

Knowing how popular many of the Mercedes-Benz models are here in the US, we have no trouble believing that this year's success is part of a continuing upward trend. Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard, Member of the Board of Management responsible for Manufacturing and Procurement Mercedes-Benz Cars and Mercedes-Benz Vans, said "Our products are received so well by customers that we will post a new record also this year." With that very customer demand (and positive response to new models), we get the kind of high capacity utilization that leads to breaking records.

Mercedes-Benz says it plans to continue investing in its production plants, including putting more than $2.4 billion into its Tuscaloosa, Alabama plant in the coming years.
