As it turns out, the launch of the new 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class has been entirely more successful than anybody connected with the brand could have realized, mostly because younger buyers are joining the typically older Mercedes-Benz consumer base to enjoy an undeniably stylish and trendy new entry-level luxury sedan.
The result of all that success, however, is that we here at Fields Motorcars, like every other Mercedes-Benz dealer in the country, are having a hard time keeping these vehicles at our facility. Customer demand has been so strong, the manufacturing plant that puts these cars together can’t keep up.
“This is our best launch in 20 years,” said Steve Cannon, head of operations for Mercedes-Benz in the United States. “The CLA has been a phenomenal success right out of the gate.”
Many Americans are excited about the vehicle, and we’ll do everything in our power to keep it stocked among our new inventory so that every customer that wants one can get a hold of one, but we’re serious when we say this thing is selling like hotcakes. It’s like that Christmas gizmo that toy stores can’t keep in stock because so many children are demanding it.
“Our dealers say that they’re seeing a lot more floor traffic and many new faces,” said Cannon. “The increase in our overall model sales indicates that this traffic is benefitting all Mercedes-Benz models.”
