Mercedes-Benz has blown us away with some pretty impressive achievements lately, not the least of which included yet more record sales numbers and the recent claiming of the internationally-renowned red dot award. As Mercedes dealers, we're very familiar with this honor, but if you aren't keeping up on international auto events then you may not be. So what is it, exactly, and why is it so special?
For those wondering what the red dot award is, it's a global design competition that had 4662 products entered this year alone. That's an incredible number of high-quality, well-designed products to go up against, so it's even more impressive that Mercedes had two winners in the ring: the A-Class and the upcoming CLA-Class. 1885 manufacturers from 64 countries entered, so we're incredibly excited about this latest victory for Mercedes-Benz.
This international seal of approval is an important affirmation of the design genius Mercedes-Benz has worked hard to perfect, and we're quite excited about future possibilities for the automaker. The upcoming CLA-Class, not available yet in the US, has been tempting and taunting us for months with its exciting and innovative design, and we can't wait to introduce local Mercedes drivers to this award winner in person.
The winners of the red dot award will enjoy a celebration in Germany in June and then four weeks on display in a special exhibition in the red dot design museum. With an award for high design quality already on the shelf, we think these models are off to a great start, and we can't wait to see what else they accomplish!
