As we point out here at the Fields Motorcars blog on an almost-weekly basis, the people who write Top 10 lists and "Best Of" lists for automobiles can't seem to leave Mercedes-Benz vehicles off of them. Just this month, we've seen a healthy handful of these lists featuring a number of our top-notch luxury automobiles, but we're most intrigued by the unconventional "17 Best Cars You Can Buy" compilation, released recently by Edmunds.com.
Edmunds, as you may or may not know, is one of the most highly-regarded automotive websites in the industry, so when they say that a car is a good one, it's typically a statement to be taken seriously. Not that the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class has ever been accused of being less than great, but Edmunds does know what it's talking about when it names it among those seventeen vehicles.
As to how it could appear on a "money-is-no-object" list of automotive greatness, the S-Class was noted by Edmunds for its lavish cabin, technological advancements, high-quality driving dynamics, and gorgeous exterior. In their words, it is "the best luxury sedan you can buy," which is something owners of any Mercedes-Benz in FL will absolutely attest to.
Essentially, this car captures the spirit of the brand by encapsulating refinement and luxury in their purest forms. It is very, very hard to test drive this vehicle and walk away from the experience less than enthralled, and that's why we think Edmunds.com was so quick to make it the first car mentioned for this list. It is among the "Best Cars You Can Buy," and we're always glad to hear someone other than us say so.
