Every year, when automakers announce new models and major changes to existing models, consumers get predictably very excited, but every Mercedes dealer on the planet is even more excited than usual about the 2014 model year, mostly because it’s bringing a couple of really amazing new and updated models to the table in the coming months.
In fact, when Forbes.com recently put together a list of what they consider to be the “10 Hottest New Cars for 2014,” Mercedes-Benz was fortunate enough to have two separate vehicles make the cut: the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class.
The new CLA-Class vehicles, which feature the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA250 and, eventually, the CLA45 AMG®, which will be released in November, are two all-new models that will serve as the automaker’s first-ever front-wheel-drive entry-level luxury sedans. They’ve got that gorgeous-yet-practical four-door coupe body style borrowed from the CLS-Class and rock a similarly sporty profile. Its 208-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the CLA250 makes for a very spirited drive, while the 355-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine in the CLA45 AMG®, when released next month, will be even more impressive.
The S-Class, meanwhile, has been completely redesigned this model year in an attempt to redefine what it means to own a luxury car. Not only is its new styling gorgeous, but high-tech chassis control combined with powerful engine options makes this vehicle more fun to drive than ever before. Of course, both the S550 and the forthcoming S63 AMG® still pack loads of luxurious amenities, but the drive is what has made this vehicle among the industry’s elite.
There is plenty to be excited about this model year in terms of luxury vehicles, but these two new Mercedes-Benz cars are at the top of the list.
