To say that the 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class has been a successful model for us here at Fields Motorcars would be a massive understatement.  Under the Mercedes-Benz banner, no vehicle is a better seller worldwide, and since the current iteration was released in 2007, over 2.4 million units have been sold across the globe.

Obviously, there's something about the C-Class formula that drivers have really latched onto, but as with any successful model, the time does eventually come where some major changes are necessary.  That's what Mercedes-Benz is going to work on over the course of the next year as it arranges updates for the next-gen C-Class vehicles.

Earmarked for the 2015 model year, the next C-Class cars will be generally lighter, larger, and better-equipped than the current version, though we should also expect some new styling for the exterior and an upgraded interior.  We've also been told that it will be the first car in its segment to offer optional air suspension.

To start, two all-wheel drive models will be made available in the U.S.: the C300 4MATIC®, which features a 2.0-liter direct-injection turbocharged four-cylinder engine capable of producing 235 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, and the C400 4MATIC®, which comes with a 3.0-liter direct-injection V6 that makes 329 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque.

While Mercedes-Benz drivers in Florida are elated with the current edition of the C-Class, we look forward to a major upgrade for one of our most beloved cars.  As good as it has been to us, evolution is necessary for prolonged success.  We fully expect this success to continue long after this next generation debuts.
