Over the course of the last year, new Mercedes-Benz cars have found ways to appeal to a more diverse group of potential customers than ever before thanks in large part to entry-level models that have made owning a luxury sedan more realistic than many consumers ever dreamed was possible.

And while that’s great, we also want to spend a little time today talking about the other end of the spectrum—top-notch luxury vehicles that cost top dollar because they offer the absolute best that Mercedes-Benz can bring to a new automobile.

For 2014, that car is the S600, the gem not only of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, but of Mercedes-Benz as a brand.  Though it isn’t available to North American consumers yet, whatever you envision as a top-of-the-line vehicle for a luxury automaker, this is what the new S600 will strive to be, and the way it’s loaded up, we tend to believe it will live up to expectations.

Top-shelf luxury comes with a top-shelf engine, obviously, and the new S600 will actually house a monster 6.0-liter V12 engine capable of producing an incredible 523 hp and 612 lb-ft of torque.  It also features Magic Body Control, which creates an incredibly smooth ride by using instruments to scan the road and adjust the vehicle accordingly.

Of course, interior luxuries like a touchscreen infotainment system, head-up display, reclining rear seats, and even a refrigerator make this a ridiculously impressive luxury sedan, and we think that it represents the top of the Mercedes-Benz range with class and style.  As much as the brand has been able to tailor to more budget-conscious consumers, it’s good to know that demand for the peak of luxury is still this strong.
