It may have been easy to miss, but early in the year Road and Track magazine named the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E250 BlueTEC® “America’s most fuel-efficient new car,” and then went on to spend the bulk of a rather lengthy and flattering article explaining how its efficiency, luxury and driving dynamics made it among the most desirable green cars in the industry today.
If you haven’t read it yet, you really should. It’s extremely convincing, not that fans of Mercedes-Benz in FL need further persuasion.
When you’re finished with that, though, perhaps you’d be interested in turning your attention to a more recent mention of the vehicle’s prowess in the arena of efficiency. Kelley Blue Book, one of the internet’s foremost experts on car values, put together a list of their “Top 10 Most Fuel Efficient Luxury Cars” earlier this month, and we here are Fields Motorcars were very pleased to see that, once again, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E250 BlueTEC® was included for many of the same reasons that Road and Track lauded it back in February.
It basically comes down to this: any time an automaker can combine an EPA-estimated 45 MPG on the highway with a 21.1 gallon fuel tank, and still boast 369 lb-ft of torque, the vehicle has to be considered a success on many different levels. Obviously, drivers may see different mileage results based on driving conditions, but throw in 195 hp, loads of luxurious features and the prestige that comes with owning a Mercedes-Benz vehicle, and it’s easy to see why a car like this would be so easy to fall in love with.
As far as efficient luxury vehicles go, this is a really tough one to top.
