People that invest in the Apple ecosystem tend to really invest in the Apple ecosystem, enjoying services that run across their phones, tablets, televisions and stereos. But thanks to Apple's CarPlay, coming soon to a Lakeland Mercedes-Benz dealership near you, that ecosystem is about to find its way into your car, too.
Siri Hands Free is already available in many different vehicles, but CarPlay takes things to the next level for Apple integration. By plugging your smart device into the car's USB port, a driver is essentially letting Apple take over the touchscreen, which will at that point be given access to many of the phone's functions.
In other words, all the things that drivers get in trouble for fiddling around with on their phone while driving can now be done more safely through the touchscreen or voice controls. This includes receiving and sending phone calls, text messages, voicemails, and emails, as well as accessing navigation through Apple Maps, your iTunes audio library, and popular streaming audio apps like Spotify.
We here at Fields Motorcars are all-in for technological advancements that make Mercedes-Benz vehicles even safer and more enjoyable to drive, so we’re excited to see when this service is expected to make its way into our vehicles. For now, it looks like drivers with an iPhone5, 5C or 5S will be able to link up to CarPlay, but this is all just the start. Anyone who's ever owned an Apple device knows that the ecosystem just keeps getting bigger and more impressive. We're very glad that Mercedes-Benz is a part of all that.
