People expect a lot out of a luxury brand like Mercedes-Benz, but luckily for our customers, Mercedes-Benz engineers always find a way to meet and ultimately exceed those expectations. We're really starting to think that the upcoming AMG® GT, due out later this year, is going to fall neatly into that "exceeds" category.
Just this month, a 50-second teaser video was released on YouTube, which works the way teasers usually do; we were given only cursory glimpses at camouflaged close-ups of the GT, with the loud grunt of the engine wailing throughout the high-octane video clip as words flashed across the screen to further our excitement for the brand's new performance flagship sports car.
So far, teaser images are really all we've been given, one of which shows only a shadowy silhouette and another that gives a high-definition and detailed look at the car's interior.
"The new AMG® GT proves that we will be positioning AMG® as a dynamic sports car brand even more strongly and aggressively than before," said Tobias Moers, CEO of Mercedes-AMG® GmbH. "The technological substance of the AMG® GT underscores our high aspirations with regard to vehicle dynamics, agility and sportiness."
By the end of the calendar year, we'll know more about what this vehicle will look like and what kind of power it may pack under the hood, but we'll have to wait until the Paris or L.A. Auto Shows, either of which could serve as the stage for the vehicle’s debut. Then, shortly thereafter, the AMG® GT will be made available at your friendly neighborhood Mercedes dealer, at which point the real fun gets underway.
And boy are we ever ready to have some fun.
