For the most part, today's automotive customer is much more interested in purchasing and owning a crossover than they are a giant, hulking SUV like those that were so popular in the 1990s. People love that crossovers are smaller, more maneuverable, and more fuel efficient, but just because that segment is growing so quickly doesn't mean that there aren't plenty of people that actually need a full-size, high-performance SUV.
Currently, your Mercedes-Benz dealer has some strong offerings along those lines, including the 2014 Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG®, 2014 Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG® and Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG®, but we here at Fields Motors, Inc. are very excited to announce that the Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG®, based on the old Gelandewagen, is finally headed to U.S. dealerships sometime over the course of the next 18 months.
The calling card of this beast, which has been available in Europe since 2012, is its voluminous 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine, which is able to generate upwards of 604 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. With that kind of drivetrain, it’s no wonder the G63 AMG® will be expected to tow pretty massive hauls; paired with four-wheel drive and a seven-speed automatic transmission, it should have no problem standing out as one of the most powerful vehicles in the Mercedes-Benz lineup.
It will be released as a 2016 model when it does finally hit American dealerships, which means there's still a bit of a wait for it. Despite that, we're very excited to add yet another powerful luxury SUV to the stable. Few vehicles have been so rugged and so refined simultaneously.
