When one thinks of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, one probably envisions stately, luxurious sedans that serve as some of the classiest and most respected automobiles on the planet. While there’s nothing wrong with that image, it looks like Mercedes-Benz has just officially announced the release of a vehicle in spring of 2015 that is likely to shatter your previous preconceptions about the brand: the 2016 Mercedes-Benz AMG® GT.
All it takes is one look at the thing to know that we’re dealing with a special Mercedes-Benz vehicle here, as this follow-up to the beloved SLS AMG® looks as though it will make a lot of drivers very, very happy.
At the center of that happiness is the power this speedy little coupe can produce. The standard 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 pushes out a really impressive 465 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque, and early estimates of its zero-to-60 time sit around 3.9 seconds.
Of course, if a customer wants even more power, there's always the even more impressive V8 engine that comes with the GT S trim. That one gets up to 503 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque, with a top speed of 193 mph and a zero-to-60 time of 3.7 seconds.
