2017 Mercedes-Benz SLC300, Mercedes-Benz dealer
Mercedes-Benz is going through a reshuffling of sorts right now, which we know can be a little confusing, especially considering how some previously-beloved models are living on with different names. One example of this restructuring is the rechristening of the old Mercedes-Benz SLK variants, which now will be called the SLC-Class and will feature significantly upgraded automobiles.
The two models in the new SLC-Class of convertibles will be the 2017 Mercedes-Benz SLC300 and the Mercedes-AMG® SLC43, and both of them are expected to be as fun to drive and own as they ever have been, albeit with a few alterations. Generally speaking, the new name has been applied with the intention of connecting these models more closely with the popular C-Class, but that doesn’t mean everything is the same. Yes, the rollback hardtop is still there, as are the optional sport suspension and exhaust, but one notable upgrade is a new V6 engine set to replace the outgoing V8.
On the surface that sounds like a downgrade, but don’t be fooled by the new engine’s smaller size. This is an incredibly powerful (and more efficient) biturbo engine capable of producing an impressive 362 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque, which is more than enough to keep Lakeland and Winter Haven drivers happy with their new luxury roadsters.
Other changes include optional Dynamic LED headlights, a new 7-inch COMAND® infotainment touchscreen control and a new Active Brake Assist, which applies the brakes automatically should a driver’s reaction time be too slow to avoid rear-ending someone.
As your Mercedes-Benz dealer, we here at Field Motorcars can say with absolute certainty that the changes to the new vehicle are going to make our customers happy. A fresh new name means a fresh new model, and that includes this slick new V6 engine.
