Well, Mercedes-Benz has been very active over the course of the last month, introducing all sorts of great new production models and concept vehicles at the Detroit Auto Show, but we here at Fields Motorcars were particularly interested in the upcoming 2015 Mercedes-Benz C350 Plug-In Hybrid, the first Mercedes-Benz C-Class hybrid to hit U.S. dealerships.

Considering the fact that the C-Class is one of our best-selling model series, it makes sense that Mercedes-Benz would make a move like this to extend the lineup. Despite the fact that it is a plug-in hybrid, however, fans of Mercedes-Benz in Lakeland should not assume that it will be an uninteresting drive. In fact, engineers packed this thing with some respectable power, including 208 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque from a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and another 80 hp and 251 lb-ft of torque from the electric motor. Combined, they produce 275 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque, which is enough to blast from zero-to-sixty in just 5.9 seconds.

Power isn't everything, though, as many of the people who purchase this car will do so for the environmental friendliness. Mercedes-Benz has long been making strides in creating cars that have all the elegance and power drives have always expected from luxury vehicles, while still providing an impressive fuel economy. This upcoming car is further testament to that commitment.

Otherwise, it's mostly the same as the non-hybrid C350, which is a really excellent car all on its own thanks to slick looks and a top-notch, luxurious interior. Adding this powertrain is just an option for those who want to reduce their carbon footprint. It's definitely something worth getting excited about.
