Fans of the Mercedes-Benz brand may have noticed that over the course of the last couple of years there has been a movement toward updating the entire luxury crossover range, but we here at Fields Motorcars are especially excited to hear that the next vehicle slated for an update is the former Mercedes-Benz GL-Class, which starting next model year will be known as the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS.

This flagship crossover is getting a new name to go with a long list of updates, which include revised styling at both ends of the vehicle, a new steering wheel design, updated instrument panel with media display, touchscreen center console, ambient lighting, and several other new lavish touches to make the vehicle as luxurious and beautiful as possible.

It also will offer top-notch performance, naturally, thanks to a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine capable of generating an impressive 362 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, and that’s just the “base” engine. Moving up the model range will see those numbers jump to 455 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, while the AMG® version tops out at 577 hp and 561 lb-ft of torque.

4MATIC® four-wheel drive is standard, as is a really smooth nine-speed automatic transmission. Advanced safety features abound, as well, which should also please fans of Mercedes-Benz in Florida.

With all the different trims, packages, and modes available for this upgraded line of Mercedes-Benz crossovers, there really should be something for just about every type of customer. We’re excited to see all of these models get such excellent new designs and features, and the new 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS in particular looks like it will be a winner both for us and our customers.
