When the buzzy Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe Concept debuted at the Shanghai Motor Show back in the spring, there was an immediate sense that it was destined for production. In the time since that show, however, Mercedes-Benz has hinted that the vehicle will, in fact, go that route, and that was confirmed this month at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The GLC Coupe is happening, folks, and we’re very excited to add what should be yet another successful crossover to the Mercedes-Benz lineup.
Since the concept that debuted back in April was a “near-production” concept, chances are good that we’ll see a lot of familiar design elements in the new iteration of the vehicle. The wheels will be a little less fancy, the headlights less aggressive, maybe a slight retooling of the front fascia, but for the most part, though, what we see is what we get. However it turns out, the expectation is that a production-spec version of the GLC Coupe will show its face for the first time at the New York Auto Show early next year.
The crossover segment, as we all know, is a growing one in the automotive industry, and Mercedes-Benz certainly has been a part of the boom. Even before the GLC Coupe, the automaker has seen SUV sales jump 25 percent so far this year over 2014’s sales, proving that the addition of another crossover, particularly one as attractive and sporty as this one, is practically destined for success.
As your local Mercedes-Benz dealer in Lakeland, the dedicated sales team at Fields Motorcars loves stocking new models, and while this one is still quite a ways away, the official announcement this month that the GLC Coupe will become a reality is a nice first step toward offering our customers yet another excellent Mercedes-Benz SUV.
