The most notable improvements come under the hood, as this iteration of the vehicle receives an upgraded twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine capable of producing a whopping 550 hp. Even more exciting is the expectation that future special editions of the Mercedes-AMG® GT R could very well exceed 600 hp, so this is without question one of the most fun automobiles this particular marque has ever produced.
And frankly, it’s that performance and those gorgeous aesthetics that make it one of the most hotly-anticipated new models of the year. So much so, in fact, that Car and Driver Magazine recently included the model on their annual list of “25 Cars Worth Waiting For.”
