At this point it is more or less common knowledge that infotainment systems in modern luxury automobiles have completely changed the way that drivers interact with their cars. Features like navigation, satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity for phones, and voice commands have made life behind the wheel of Mercedes-Benz models more convenient and pleasurable than they ever have been, and a new partnership between the automaker and software giant Microsoft are about to add even more convenience to the package.

While the detailed specifics of the partnership still are uncertain, this new product, called “In Car Office,” will at the very least include some level of integration between the vehicle itself and the driver’s Microsoft Exchange calendar account. Among other things, the software will work in conjunction with the infotainment system to automatically offer up turn-by-turn directions to a destination on the calendar when that appointment arrives. It also will offer to call the person on the other end of that meeting or appointment to inform them that you are on your way.
