For some people, there is no experience more satisfying than driving around a Mercedes-Benz automobile, but for other people there may be no experience more satisfying than simply riding in the back seat while being driven around in luxury cars to work or other commutable points of interest. It’s no secret that Mercedes-Benz engineers are interested in developing vehicles that soon will be able to drive themselves, but what should be exciting for fans of the brand moving forward is a budding partnership with the lauded Uber ride-sharing network.
Hardly anybody in Lakeland, FL hasn’t at least heard of Uber but fans of Mercedes-Benz should be pleased to hear that the automaker is sending over a number of new Mercedes GLC models to help Uber develop a fleet of autonomous automobiles capable of efficiently and affordably taking their charges to their desired locations.
“Auto manufacturers like Daimler are crucial to our strategy because Uber has no experience making cars—and in fact, making cars is really hard,” said Uber CEO Travis Kalanick in a recent blog post. “That’s why instead of building them ourselves, we want to partner with the best auto manufacturers in the world.”
That, of course, would include Mercedes-Benz, but as of now we don’t yet know when the partnership will develop in a way that sees these vehicles out on roads. What we do know is that this should create a pretty interesting way to test out a new Mercedes-Benz GLC. We’re accustomed to seeing how we feel about these models by driving them, but in this case we get to experience being driven around in one. Both are equally fantastic, and both should convince you that owning a Mercedes-Benz GLC is better than just Ubering around in one. Either way, we’re here to help however we can!
