The way that Auburndale, FL customers interact with their luxury cars is completely changing, and it’s happening in a way that feels like something from science fiction movies we may have watched as children.

For drivers that own Google Home or Amazon Echo, there are ways to use voice commands from inside your house to control certain functions of your Mercedes-Benz automobile, no matter how far away it may be. While many of us just have our vehicles in our garages, urban drivers may have their cars parked blocks away, but no matter how far it is, all one has to do at this point to lock, unlock or even start their vehicles remotely is to speak to their smart home devices.

It honestly is as easy as saying, “Google, start my car,” and it happens. Alexa, for what it’s worth, can get it done, too.

"We want to offer our customers a broad range of services 24/7, not just when they are in our cars," said Nils Schanz, head of Internet of Things and Wearable Integration, in an interview with Fortune magazine. "The goal for Mercedes-Benz is creating an intelligent ecosystem around cars, and developing cutting-edge technology to make everyday life more convenient for our customers."

There are a few caveats for now, as the system only works with 2016 and 2017 model year vehicles purchased from Mercedes dealers in Florida, and those that have those vehicles also need a “Mercedes Me” account and an “mbrace®” subscription. Still, once it’s up and running is really is one of the cooler futuristic features we offer here at Fields Motorcars, and we are very much looking forward to what these tech gurus and automotive engineers come up with next!
