There's no question that the Frankfurt Auto Show was the most notable event in the auto industry this month, with just a never-ending river of Mercedes-Benz news trickling out of the exhibition.  Fans have been able to chew on all this news for a week or two now, which should be enough time to decide which of the concept vehicles on display at Frankfurt showed the most potential as production vehicles somewhere down the road.

The Concept S-Class Coupe, quite frankly, was among the favorite showings for any Mercedes dealer in the world.  It's a two-door concept version of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class that debuted back in July, which means we can all now enjoy the prospect of driving a sportier version of a vehicle that was already technologically advanced and all-encompassing in its luxury. (Note that this model is not available for purchase.)

For some consumers, two doors will always be better than four, and in this case the body style change is different enough from the sedan version to be pretty noticeable.  And boy, is it beautiful.  Even better, the engine on display at Frankfurt was the fan-favorite 4.6-liter twin-turbo V8 capable of producing 449 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.  As a coupe, though, there's an expectation that an even more powerful engine could eventually be made available when this vehicle hits production, but it's not like we needed reasons to get even more excited.

There were some gimmicky concept-only features in the car's interior, but those things will eventually get worked out as the S-Class Coupe finds its way to our facility in the coming couple of years.  Honestly, we can't wait to see it in person.
