When Mercedes-Benz first developed the plan to release a more affordable, entry-level sort of luxury sedan for consumers that were interested in introducing themselves to the brand but didn't have the money to afford the more premium models, they had a feeling that the car, eventually dubbed the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class, would be a pretty big success.

Of course, they had no idea that it would be this successful, but nobody (except maybe consumers on waiting lists) is complaining about that. In fact, Daimler AG Chairman Dieter Zetsche recently told Automotive News, "We could have sold twice as many vehicles, easily, compared to our planning."

Back in December, you may recall, Mercedes-Benz called the first several months of CLA-Class sales the "best launch in 20 years," and warned every Mercedes-Benz dealer in the U.S. that there may come a day very soon where supplies grew tight.

Well, that's happening now, as one estimate suggests that there are some dealers in the country that have fallen below a ten-day supply of CLA-Class cars. A 60-day supply for a newer vehicle like this one is much more ideal.

"We do not want our customers to have to wait too much," Zetsche added. "Wherever we could, we pulled out all the stops."

Hopefully that results in more supply of the CLA-Class cars in the coming months, because we have plenty of customers excited about the prospect of owning one. It is, after all, a car designed to bring new consumers to the brand. The more cars Mercedes-Benz manufacturers, the more excited drivers we can get behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz vehicle.
