Not everybody who meets with their Mercedes-Benz dealer with the intention of buying a new car really cares about what the resale value of that car will be five years down the road. The truth is that many of our customers pay us a visit every two or three years to upgrade to the latest and greatest offerings from Mercedes-Benz because they are excited to see the newest tech, comfort, and performance features.
That doesn’t mean there aren’t people who care about residual value, however. Some of our customers buy a model with every intention of driving it for a long time, and one of the best things about the models that we sell here at Fields Motorcars is that they do hold their value well, especially over the course of the first five years.
Edmunds recently proved this by publishing their annual article outlining which models are best in their segments for retaining value. Not surprisingly, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz G-Class was among the top five SUVs in the entire industry this year.
The respected online car review and valuation site comes to this conclusion by poring over data at length and then laying out the brands and models that offer the highest projected private party residual value after five years (based on 15,000 miles of driving per year). The 2015 Mercedes-Benz G-Class performed so well because it fills a pretty unique niche in the world of luxury SUVs, as it’s both lavish and undeniably rugged, with off-road ability unlike anything else in its segment.
With that kind of exclusivity and uniqueness, it’s no wonder Edmunds thinks it will retain its value so well. Our customers could keep so much money in their pockets if they’d just choose the right SUV, and in this case, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz G-Class looks like a winner, at least in terms of value retention.
