As we’ve said in this space before, there might not be any state in the union more amenable to convertibles than Florida, but that fact should be especially exciting for fans of Mercedes-Benz in the Sunshine State because the automaker is planning on debuting the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet at the Geneva Motor Show next month. That means we all will be privy to our first look at the eagerly-anticipated convertible in a matter of mere weeks, and while all we’ve seen so far in terms of teasers is a sketch drawing of the vehicle, excitement is growing at your friendly neighborhood Mercedes-Benz dealer with good reason.
First and foremost, anybody who has seen the standard 2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe knows that it’s one of the most attractive automobiles in the entire Mercedes-Benz range right now. A drop-top version of that automobile can only make those gorgeous aesthetics even more beautiful since that’s a big part of why convertibles exist in the first place.
That top, by the way, is expected to be a folding fabric roof instead of a hardtop, which is a welcome departure from what some of the competition is doing, and that top will be stored underneath a nicely-hidden panel right behind where the rear passengers would sit.
As for a powertrain, the C300 iteration of this vehicle is likely to feature the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine as the standard-top version of the car, but it also wouldn’t be surprising if there were an AMG® version released later on with considerably more power. One can certainly hope that ends up being the case.
The dedicated sales team at Fields Motorcars is thrilled to know that a new convertible is joining the stable, especially one as gorgeous as the C-Class Cabriolet is sure to be.
