In our last post here at Fields Motorcars, we talked about how important it was to seek out genuine Mercedes-Benz car parts in Lakeland, FL when getting a car maintained or repaired, but since Mercedes-Benz is a German auto brand, that typically has meant seeking out genuine parts made in Germany.
That may change, however, at least according to a CNN report that suggests the automaker will put more effort into ensuring that those parts are manufactured right here in the United States at the Mercedes-Benz Tuscaloosa plant. The essence of such a maneuver would be in streamlining the manufacturing process to keep it efficient and to keep down the cost of importing parts from afar. It does, after all, make quite a bit of sense that a vehicle would be more affordable to build from parts shipped locally than parts shipped internationally.
“Our suppliers have found—just as we have—that Alabama is a great place to do business,” said Mercedes-Benz executive Jason Hoff, and it looks like that business is coming more sooner than later. Already, 80 percent of components from Mercedes-Benz C-Class vehicles come from the U.S. and Canada, up from only 55 percent a year ago.
This of course means good things for American workers, and there’s also a good chance it means keeping the prices of Mercedes-Benz vehicles reasonable for buyers in Lakeland, FL. All Mercedes dealers in Florida want is to sell great vehicles to eager customers at prices that make sense. Sourcing those genuine parts from the U.S. ensures none of that changes, and we’re happy for that to be the case.
