Fans of the Mercedes-Benz brand may have noticed that over the course of the last couple of years there has been a movement toward updating the entire luxury crossover range, but we here at Fields Motorcars are especially excited to hear that the next vehicle slated for an update is the former Mercedes-Benz GL-Class, which starting next model year will be known as the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS.

There was some hoopla last month about how the future date from “Back to the Future II” had finally come and gone, and while a lot of things from the film proved prophetic in terms of the actual future, there were quite a few aspects that the filmmakers got wrong. When the buzzy Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe Concept debuted at the Shanghai Motor Show back in the spring, there was an immediate sense that it was destined for production.
